Smart Cities: Accessibility

The future of a smart city is an accessible city.
The wave of Smart cities will bring about transformative technologies in how we interact within cities.   The use of technology will bring about accessibility in social life, leisure, outings,transportation/mobility and work life. 
Access to community/Social life is important and smart cities with technology integration will play a critical part in accessibility inclusion. This will bring about easy access for people, navigating city life, and provide informative choices and eased mobility.   Some examples include city alert app notifications for buses,trains, lit up city crosswalks and sidewalks, and assistive maps in the city. 
Transportation transformations; as self driving vehicles will bring faster mobility and eased mobility to many people navigating the city life.  Self driving vehicles will bring about access to self transportation for people and remove limitations that are currently faced by todays transportation services.
Accessible cities will be smart cities: defined as   “A smart city is a municipality that uses information and communication technologies (ICT) to increase operational efficiency, share information with the public and improve both the quality of government services and citizen welfare.”  Smart cities are the wave of the future.
